OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY Photography SESSIONS
individual or group
You might all know me as a photographer, but I am actually also a local Port Macquarie Occupational Therapist with over 20 years’ experience. I’m now combining my two long‑standing passions — OT and photography — to offer small, therapeutic sessions for neurodivergent teens and adults (ADHD, ASD, AuDHD).
These sessions are designed for participants who find traditional clinic settings stressful and benefit from low‑pressure, meaningful, sensory‑supportive environments.
The groups will be capped at 4 participants and matched by age and support needs:
* Tweens 10–12
* Teens 13–17
* Adults 18+
Not ready for a group yet? Individual sessions are available to get you comfortable with the activity and the environment before moving onto meeting other participants.
Why photography?
Many past clients who struggled in clinic‑based sessions have engaged beautifully through photography because it provides structure, purpose, and a calming, sensory‑supportive environment. I have carefully designed these sessions using photography as an OT therapeutic tool to target the following goals, and individualised outcome measures will used.
Therapeutic focus:
* Social communication
* Sensory modulation & awareness
* Emotional regulation
* Executive functioning (planning, sequencing, decision‑making)
* Building confidence, identity & strengths
* Mindfulness and attention
* Participation in community environments
* Parallel participation (similar to parallel play — doing an activity alongside others without direct social pressure, allowing interaction to develop naturally and comfortably)
* Turn‑taking, leadership, choice‑making
* Self‑expression and confidence building.
FAQ
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The sessions will be billed through the capacity building/improved daily living line item, with the OT hourly rate split evenly between number of participants.

Where do sessions occur?

Most sessions will take place outdoors in nature around Port Macquarie. A studio space is available for wet‑weather days.

Do I need a camera?

No, I provide all the equipment to use during the session.

I need 1:1 support, CAN I bring a carer?

Yes absolutely! I do an initial assessment prior to commencement, where often I will recommend a carer participates in the program alongside you if you need some extra help to stay safe or calm.
